This Guide is an adaptation into Greek of the English 2nd edition of the "Collins Bird Guide" by HarperCollins publications and is the product of a long collective effort, based on the voluntary help of many members of the Hellenic Ornithological Society and BirdLife Cyprus, after the first edition which was sold out.

The publication of an identification guide in the national language has proven worldwide to be one of the most effective means to promote knowledge and environmental awareness for any group of organisations. This Guide along with a pair of binoculars and a notebook is all that is needed to identify all the wild birds one will see in Greece, Cyprus and anywhere else in Europe and the areas around the Mediterranean.
