Despite previous months’ losses, the juvenile Egyptian Vultures that were tagged with satellite transmitters within the framework of LIFE+ project Return of the Neophron in 2013, continue their adventurous journey.

This time, all eyes are on Svetlina. On 22 November morning she departed from Yemen, crossed the Red Sea through Bab el Mandeb and reached Africa through Djibouti. By the end of the same day, Svetlina reached Afar Region, Ethiopia, where she stayed until 25 November, spending the nights on high voltage towers near Cerda village (the area we had covered during our expedition in Afar Region in order to study the Egyptian Vulture population wintering there).

So, now, we look forward to seeing how Svetlina’s journey is going to be continued; will she remain in Afar Region to winter, or will she choose another route?

Stay tuned!

Follow the route of Svetlina
